Cranial sacral therapy (also known as craniosacral therapy) is a gentle, noninvasive form of bodywork that addresses the bones of the head, spinal column and sacrum and helps the body to heal itself. The goal is to release compression in those areas which alleviates stress and pain. Life expresses itself as motion. At a deep level of our physiological functioning all healthy, living tissues subtly "breathe" with the motion of life - a phenomenon that produces rhythmic impulses which can be palpated by sensitive hands. The motion of cranial bones is closely connected to subtle movements that involve a network of interrelated tissues and fluids at the core of the body; including cerebrospinal, the central nervous system, the membranes that surround the central nervous system and the sacrum.
Benefits include improvement with stress-related conditions, fatigue, motor-coordination, orthopedic and neurological conditions to name a few.
The Craniosacral practitioner places their hands on various locations of the body with light touch. The patient will be fully clothed and lying and sitting in a comfortable position. After the experience, a feeling of deep relaxation and restorative effects on the body.
